The Crested Butte Airport at Buckhorn Ranch is a
private, restricted-use airstrip intended primarily for owners of
runway-adjacent properties (“Proprietary Members”).
Because the airport is located in a high-elevation mountain environment,
weather conditions can change quickly. All airport use is at your own risk.
Airport Operating Guidelines
- Daytime use only
- VFR (Visual Flight Rules) only
- No commercial operations
- No jet aircraft
- No touch-and-go operations
Please be mindful of your neighbors. Noise abatement is very important
to our community.
Who May Use the Airport
Runway Lot Owners (Proprietary Members)
Owners of runway lots automatically have airport use privileges. Their invited
guests may also use the airport when visiting them.
Other Buckhorn Ranch Property Owners (Non-Proprietary Members)
Owners whose properties do not front the runway do
not automatically have airport privileges. However, they may apply to join the
Airport Association by paying an initiation fee and ongoing dues.
Airport use rights are not transferable and apply only to approved members.
Aircraft Parking
- Owners should park aircraft on their own property whenever possible.
-
If guests cannot park on the owner’s property, the owner must
be present to meet them upon arrival.
-
Limited parking is available on Lot C-1, but
reservations are required.
Unauthorized Use
Use of the airport by individuals who are not authorized (including visitors to the
Crested Butte area who are not guests of runway lot owners) is not permitted.
Unauthorized use may result in fines, immobilization of the aircraft,
and notification to the FAA.
